Since the dawn of the internet and social media, a growing avenue for potential self-employment opportunities has emerged.
No longer does the word entrepreneur only relate to big business and to many of the younger generation working for themselves is normal. In fact countless do not even know a world of hunting for jobs and following someone else rules, instead, they are their own boss.
They have grown up in an era where this is easily accessible, without the need to be a risky business mogul or have heaps of capital.
There are students starting online, freelance businesses while they are still at university, and even teenagers too.
Yet for years our generation has put in hard graft for someone else, what about hard graft for us?
So do we need to look at how the younger generation do it?
Is it the time to see how we too should grab a piece of that action?
I initially wasn’t a fan of social media but when it comes to business, it is an essential tool. A tool we may need to embrace!
Since the start of the Covid pandemic, competition for jobs has only got fiercer and unfortunately, ageism in the workforce can be a harsh and unfair reality. So perhaps it is time to re-assess how and what we can do.
You may have years of experience in a passion or skill, why not see if there is a way you can use it.
Or is there something completely new that you want to learn?

The internet is full of tutorials, online courses and how to’s; many completely free, others inexpensive. Input what you want to learn or gain more knowledge on, and a realm of possibilities will appear. All from the comfort of your own home and in the convenience of your own time.
Whether it is just for that bit of extra money or a potentially more lucrative venture, either way you may be able to earn money doing something you enjoy.
For every tutorial, there is another on how to set up and market an online business, how to be more tech-savvy, and love it or hate it – how to use social media platforms to your benefit.

So, take those first steps, and embrace this as a time to learn as much as you can and delve into this world of the younger generation being their own boss, and start taking a piece of that action for yourself!
